BASL steps onto Cyber Space
The Bar Association of Sri Lanka at a historical event held on 09th January 2019 at its Auditorium, stepped onto the Cyber Space by launching its Official Website. The luminous ceremony attended by the distinguished Legal Professionals witnessed Mr. U.R de Silva PC, the incumbent President of the BASL officially activating the website on the server. He was flanked by Mr. Kaushlya Nawarathne, Hon. Secretary of BASL, Mr. Sujeewa Lal Dahanayake, Hon. Treasure of the BASL and Mr. Chamath Fernando, the Assistant Secretary of the BASL.
The Official Website of the BASL can be accessed via ‘www.basl.lk’. The Official Website of the BASL has been designed to primarily serve two purposes vis to effectively network its mammoth membership currently exceeding 20,000 and to showcase the caliber of the Sri Lankan Legal Profession, its culture and heritages to entire globe.
The Official Website of the BASL, which had been one of the long standing dreams of the BASL for the past couple of years, after a couple of abortive attempts, was eventually dawned upon the reality thanks to the shrewd management of BASL led by its incumbent President, Mr. U.R de Silva PC and Mr. Kaushalya Nawarathne, Hon. Secretary.
Following the launching of the website, a hosts of facilities which had thus far been confined to the four walls of the BASL will hereinafter be at disposal of the membership within a click away. Among the other thing which will be within fingernail reach of the members include,

- Get updated of latest news affecting the legal profession and the announcement made by the BASL aimed at entirety of its membership
- Learn about upcoming the programs on Continuous Legal Education and the conferences and other workshops organized by the BASL and enroll at them

The BASL official website has been designed and developed by Mr. Saranga Hettiarachchi, the permanent IT executive of the BASL and his sheer dedication into the endeavor during the previous a few months fortified by the blessing and patronage of the BASL Excutive Committee saw the remarkable feat unfolding in not-too-distant New Year.
The BASL while inviting the entire membership to immerse in the new experience simultaneously call on you to send across to it your suggestion as to how it should be further improved and the manner you can be contributory in the uplifting process.
